ServiceNow Service Portal and the Evergreen Employee Self-Service Catalog & Portal (ESS): Market Update

ServiceNow released the Helsinki version of their software platform May 12, 2016. It includes a much more capable Service Portal CMS, built on modern, widely used technologies such as Angular JS and Bootstrap. While it is intended to replace the prior CMS, the prior CMS will still be fully supported on the Helsinki release. At some point in the future it will be retired.

As a member of the ServiceNow Developers Program, we have had early access to the Helsinki release and have analyzed the Service Portal closely.

It is a modern replacement technology, well thought out with good mobile capability, and brings the power to create more engaging user experiences more quickly than in the past. We have determined that approximately 90% of the current, advanced functionality in our (ESS) solution is not provided by Service Portal - - and is still needed to create complete employee self-service catalog & portal solutions.

For the past 6 - 9 months we have been looking forward to this new platform, and are targeting the release of our next generation ESS solution, built on top of the new Service Portal, for mid-July 2016.

For current customers of our ESS solution, we have examined the level of effort to migrate the ESS solution from the old CMS to the new Service Portal platform, and while your needs may vary, we estimate on average it will require only two weeks of work. Please contact us for more information.

A free, interactive demo of our current Employee Self-Service Catalog and Portal is available for download. Attendees of ServiceNow Knowledge16 are invited to stop by our Booth 1725 during ExpoNow hours for a live demonstration led by Jeff Benedict, ITSM Practice Manager.
